Easy hair flower clips

These cute hair flower clips are adorable for your own hair or your girls hair. They are a great baby shower gift idea as well.

Things you will need:

-flower of your choice

-hot glue gun

-glue sticks

-rhinestones (optional)

-ribbon (white or any color you choose)

-scissors

-medal hair clips(you can get them at craft stores or any professional hair salon)

1. Remove back of flower (just pull/pry it off).

2. disassemble the entire flower.

3. if using the center piece that the flower came with, cut off the stem portion so it is flat with the rest of the center piece.

4. wrap your medal clip with ribbon by first gluing the ribbon onto the flat part of clip.

5. wrap/fold ribbon into or over the clip to sloped side (don't glue in center).

6. Glue slope and press ribbon onto glue.

7. glue both sides of the long portion (try avoiding the center hole as best you can).

8. press ribbon onto glued portion.

9. cut the ribbon so there is just enough to fit on the under portion of the clip.

10. glue the length of ribbon onto the under portion of the clip.

11. press ribbon onto glued portion and remove any glue that may have escaped! (:

12. Glue top of ribbon portion of clip.

13. place the first flower layer centered over the glued portion of clip and press together.

14. repeat layers centering each layer with the center holes each time.

15. glue center piece on and your done!

If you don't like the center the flower came with, I find that rhinestones go really cute with them as well!

Depending on the flowers that your purchase, the layers may very. I find that if you get the flower bunch from the dollar store, the flowers look better if you put 2-3 of the flowers together to make a full layered flower clip. Otherwise, the flowers from Michaels, JoAnns, Roberts, etc. may only need one! (: Good luck and I hope the directions on here help you.

Easy, inexexpensive headband...

This is a really inexpensive head band. I use the $.33 cent knee highs you get in the plastic containers from really any drug store or even Wal-Mart. The "Queen" size or bigger (if you can find it) is the ones I use, so there is plenty to work with without it being to tight.

1. Stretch the hose to get them to straighten out.
2. Fold (long way) in half and pull/stretch again to help it stay together.
3. Fold to make a loop, about 1 1/2 inches from the ribbed portion.

4. Sew together making sure to sew over the seam at least twice to make the seam stronger.

5. Cut along seam leaving at least 1/16 of an inch from the seam.

6.Turn seam inward.
7. Using extra smooth piece, loop around headband and pull tight so that you don't sew the actually headband.

8. Sew loop. Go over at least twice to help hold together.


9. Cut the remainder off, leaving 1/16 of an inch from the seam.

10. Turn the small band right side out so the sewn seam is hidden.
11. Rotate seam to face inside of headband and pull over the headband seam to make a seamless look.

12. Your all done! Now you have an interchangeable stretch headband.

I believe the hose come in white, cream, black, blue and brown too and each hose container makes two headbands.

Sorry for the lack of posts... This year has so far been a busy one for my family.

Here in the next day or two... Depending on my energy level, I am going to post some fun how to's for hair accessories. My sister in law requested it, so if there is anyone that wants to learn how to make something, request it and I'll do my best!

"Chore chart" or "Family night chart"

Things you will need:

1. Paint

2. Patterned paper and solid paper

3. 5/8" cup hooks (however many you need for your family)

-You can get them at walmart for less then a $1 for 8

4. hot glue gun

5. 3 different sized boards about the same shape

6. Paint sponge brush or paint brush

7. Mod podge

8. alphabet stamp set, cricket alphabet, sizzix alphabet or alphabet stencils will work

9. sanding block or sand paper in antiquing edges

10. ribbon for hanging names or chart (optional)

11. hole punch

12. glue (for paper/scrap booking)

13. something for the same. (I used magnetic business cards and cut them since that's what I had on hand that had some weight to it and that was easy to work with. Small wood pieces will work fine too you'll just have to drill holes in it instead of hole punching them.)

Directions:

1. sand and paint then sand your boards again

2. cut paper to size you want and mod podge it to the middle sized board.

3. once dry, mod podge over surface of the large and medium sized boards.

4. Glue all three boards together

5. Cut out letters for top of board (I used the cricket for the letters of my chore chart. the rest of the names and chores i just printed out from my computer using card stock.)

6. Mod podge letters on top of board

7. evenly space out the chores you want done

8. mod podge them on

9. For my name tags, I know I am planning on a certain number of kids and I'm only half way there, so I didn't place their names on it (for obvious reasons) and I put decorative paper on the opposite side of the tag then I would have put the name on. The blank ones I figured for now we will all pitch in with or I will just do them until later. (:

10. mark where you want the hooks to go and twist in. They are a little hard at first but then go in nicely. If you have a drill, drill a small hole just smaller then the hooks screw, that should help too.

I'm not sure if I used all the steps, so if it doesn't make sense, leave a comment and I will try a better step by step method.

Instead of a "Chore Chart" try doing it for "Family Night".

Christmas Craft ideas

Both of these crafts I have done in my family since I was a very little girl. I have enjoyed these fun crafts and hope you do too. Let me know what you think!

Clothes pin "Rudolph" rain deer

Things you will need:

1.Brown felt (ears)

2. 3 old fashioned clothes pins (body/legs and head)

3. 5mm red pom-poms (nose)

4. White pom-poms just bigger then the red ones (tail)
5. 4mm easy-glue eyes

6. some kind of string for hanging purposes

7. colored ribbon for around neck

8. sharpie marker or black paint and paint brush (hooves)
9. hot glue gun with glue sticks

Directions:

1.Glue two of the clothes pins together like such.

2. glue sting like this and then place the third clothes pin upside down over the string.

3. glue red pom pom on rounded part of clothes pin to make the nose.

4. Glue the two eyes above the nose.

5. Glue the two ears at the base of the antlers.

6.Glue the center of the ribbon to the top of the neck where the body and the head meet. Then tie a bow at the bottom. (note: you may want to glue the bow itself as well... It works either way just stays better for longer use.)

7. Lastly, color the hooves (feet) on all four bases of the clothes pin legs.

Your all done! Isn't he just the cutes little guy?!?

This is a fun project that is fun for the whole family. My 3 and 4 year old both love doing it with me and my 2 year old did really well at it too (with help from me).

Christmas tree treat bag

Things you will need:

1. two identical trees cut from green felt. One needs a mouth hole cut out.

2. an oval (with edges cut off) for the base that is the length of the trees base.

3. 2 identical stars from yellow felt

4. 2 easy glue eyes (any size will work fine and look really cute.)

5. 1 yellow fuzzy pom pom

6. about 8 green and red (really any color you want will work) fuzzy pom poms.

7. hot glue gun and glue sticks (you can sew the edges if that is better for you).

(Note: This pattern is a touch different then the example that I am showing how to do things with. The directions are still the same though.)

Instructions:

1. Glue two trees together (Glue along inside edge of tree, place other tree on top of the glue.)

(NOTE: DO NOT GLUE BASE DURING THIS STEP!)

2. Start gluing the base piece of felt to the tree.

3. Glue star on both side of top of tree. (like a sandwich)

4. Glue eyes on

5. Glue yellow fuzzy pom pom on for nose.

6. Glue colored fuzzy pom poms on all over the tree.

Fill with treats or a small gift!

My whole family has enjoyed doing these fun little gifts for as long as I can remember. They have always been one of my favorite holiday traditions we make for either our family or friends.
